The power of procurement

June 25, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

An introductory action-focused session on the power of a progressive approach to procurement

About this Event

In this session the specialist CLES trainer will progressive procurement talk you through the five stages of progressive procurement: policy; anchor collaboration; analysis; understanding wider impact; and making procurement accessible.

The session will explore a series of real world examples of when each part of the journey has been done particularly well in place and encourage you to consider where your organisation is at on their progressive procurement journey.

You will leave this session with your own action plan to help your organisation take the next step in its progressive procurement journey.

Who’s it for?

This course is for anyone who wants to go deeper into understanding how procurement can build community wealth and extend the social value created by institutions. You do not have to be a procurement professional to take part but an interest in procurement and a recognition that the economy is failing to work for everyone and a willing to look for a new approach to local economic development is a must!

Why attend?

Attend this course if you are interested in progressive procurement and need inspiration, case studies and ideas for action – you’ll get all three.

CLES works with a growing number of town, city, city-region and national governments to help them to uncover the power of procurement for their place. Over the last decade we have supported dozens of locations to diversify their supply chains, develop social value frameworks, change their procurement practices, communicate with suppliers, make procurement accessible and to measure the direct and indirect impacts of procurement on local economies. If you’d like to see case studies of our work, please visit our website.

Facilitators

This session will be led by one of the following CLES team members, who each bring first hand knowledge and experience of developing and progressive procurement strategies across the UK:

David Burch, Senior Researcher

Stuart MacDonald, Associate Director
