The natural environment

July 19, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

How local projects can make a big difference to the natural environment.

The natural environment is rarely out of the news these days. Polar bears, ash trees, orangutans and bees; they’re all under threat from one thing or another, but what can we do?! The answer: quite a lot, and it’s already a big priority for many Big Local Areas who are running many activities from community gardens to planting orchards.

This workshop will go from the global to the local. We will hear from experts about how our local neighborhoods link to the survival of habitats and species. And it’s not just about the wildlife, there are known benefits from natural environment projects for humans which we will explore. We will have communities tell us about the amazing things they have done and the differences they have made. And we will learn how to work in partnership with bigger players by using the power of Big Local to the full.

Who is this workshop for?

This event will be suited to people involved in Big Local who want to do more to help their natural environment – if your plan is looking at improving the feel of the neighbourhood, health of residents, or attracting visitors to your community, this is the event for you. You don’t need any prior knowledge of the issues; just a passion to do things that will make a difference.
